good stuff… especially the part about there is no peace in the middle east without Syria, pre-1967 borders, God judging the oligarchies of the West (“NWO”) through the little horn, his sharia law and his desire of world domination..

woOT woOT!!! Jono is a really cool brother from down under…

Guys, I am pondering doing a live video broadcast a few times a month…perhaps like a Thursday night or something. The problem is this…if I do it I will have trouble with bandwidth issues…

I looked at streaming services and it is like $350 a month for 3000 viewing hours…that means 1000 people (which would be immediate) can watch 3 hours a month…

Then the price goes up drastically…to $1250 a month…for 15,000 viewing hours…

I guess I am just blabbing but I know it would be huge…I have the studio ready.

At the 3000 viewing hrs rate if I did a 1 hour session 3 times a month only 1000 ppl could participate. A 2 hour session cuts it in half to 500 ppl 3 times a month…

Grrrrr….

share your thoughts plz

Did you check out blog talk radio? Is that a free service?

Reply
Stephen 29-08-2010, 18:30

My thoughts exactly, Harvest.

No reason to shell out that kind of cheese. BlogTalkRadio is perfectly adequate. Call-in phone number, chat room, archived MP3s of past shows and more.

that’s if someone else hosts your show, but what if you do it yourself (your own streaming server at home), you would only pay for the pipe… I haven’t checked rates in a while… wouldn’t it be better/cheaper?

i would love to do that…i need info

Reply
scot 31-08-2010, 12:29

please EMAIL any information…I wonder how much bandwidth would be needed…perhaps a T1 or better??? Probably even more…

Larry (Editor) 01-09-2010, 12:24

Scot,

I would think you need more bandwidth than the T1 can provide, maybe T3 or higher, I will look into it, but you would also need a powerful server, so maybe going with a company that hosts the streaming for you is the way after all…

you could have people preregister for the show. That way there won’t be any surprises, and you would know right away if you need the $1250.00 plan. If everyone paid 1 dollar a month you would have a surplus for the ministry, or you could make it $10.00 for the year. Perhaps when people signed up to view the shows, the first one could be free, and then after that they could choose to pay for 3, 6 or 12 months.

I would be great if you made a special email address for use during the show, which someone could monitor, and then you might be able to handle some questions during the show.

Scot – check out Blogtalkradio – here is the link for the free service:
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/whatis.aspx

Apparently, all you need is a telephone and a computer.

copy paste from the above link:

3. Live Chat: Lets hosts chat with listeners during and after live show

2. Host your show with just a headset and your computer.
3. Make free outbound calls to U.S. numbers right from your switchboard.
4. Upload pre-recorded podcasts right to your Show Page without having to schedule an episode.
5. Show placement on the BlogTalkRadio widget to drive listeners to your show.

7. With Premium Plus, hosts have limited advertisements, more widget promotions, and Priority Support.

Dude, it sounds like it’s worth checking out.

Lisa 29-08-2010, 19:54

p.s. I haven’t looked into all the details yet, but it sounds like even if you pay for the premium service, it would be far cheaper than the other plan you were looking into. Also, the best part for people like me who probably couldn’t listen live (depending on what time you did it) is that the shows would automatically be loaded on the blogtalk site as mp3 – and be accessible via iTunes (which would be awesome since I’d simply subscribe and be able to listen that way).

want me to do some research on it for ya?

Reply
Lisa 29-08-2010, 19:59

pp.ss….just a quick search and I discovered this on Wikipedia (about blogtalkradio):

“The service allows up to five callers at a time, although unlimited participants can listen in.”

I thought that was important because obviously you’d want unlimited listeners. And up to five callers/guests would be sufficient per show, no?

There is another site that allows video ….lemme rummage for it. Back in a sec.

There is BlogTV – but it doesn’t appear to allow one to record very long. But perhaps I just skimmed through it too quickly.

There is also Stickam – and I know a lot of people have sent me invites to watch their broadcasts there – but I don’t know if they had to pay or not. They probably have a free option and a paid option like the other sites.

These two do video….not just mp3.

Thinking out loud…I am wondering if Blogtalkradio will ever branch into video. They seem to have the best format (imo) of these kinds of sites…. Mebbe it’s worth contacting them and asking?

350 a month for such a limited return seems quite high. Surely there are other alternatives. Let’s all pray about it:)!

Reply
scot 29-08-2010, 22:54

i want to archive the video and also have them available on dvd seeing as how so many ppl like hard copies for their personal, homegroup and congregational studies….

It was cool interview Scot. I am sure people will tune in next week, you got them curious.

Videos are nice because you can show the scriptures, images etc.

While that is on the works, have you thought of openin a Paltalk room for us to debate scripture on the Sabbath? Maybe we can together study the Torah Portions, headline news etc. What do you think?

Reply
Stephen 30-08-2010, 06:50

Again, I have to agree with Harvest.

Audio might not be as fancy, but it can reach more people faster. Just look at the feedback from this radio show.

BlogTalkRadio is free and can begin immediately. It also gives you time to figure out the logistical and financial issues of video broadcasting.

Based on the energy that it has stirred up I will bite the bullet and do the video…with video comes audio tracks as well…The studio is pretty much ready for a single wide angle (2 person exchange)…It has an LCD in the background on the walll were images can be posted and such…

If someone would like to participate in the first show and has something that Abba has put on their heart contact me…we can fly you into Jacksonville Intl…a GREAT airport near the water. PPI will pay for the ticket…in the meantime I will be getting together the infrastructure to get started…I am excited.

Stephen,
I will need your help on the backend. It will probably have to run from an .html page as WordPress .php seems to strip some embed code out of the page randomly. I will probably be using livestream.com…

Scot,

I want to come down so bad believe me. We just need to organize everything and decide who will be going down. Ty and I would have to make plans so that we all can go at the same time.

Also, I’m taking classes right now to finish up my last semester of Electrical Wiring. It is a trade I will need in my future to help others (tent maker). I would have to find the times I have break, at the same time find out Ty’s schedule, and who else can make it.

At the moment, I’m also doing another project. The Romans 7 is a two part project. I’m working on the second which deals with the difference between the Law of sin and death vs. the Law of YHWH.

Also, YHWH gave me a new song last week and I finished writing it :D I’m excited about it too.

If we did have a chance to come, who all can come? What would we need to bring that could help you out? Gator repelant? =p

I talked to Ty the other day about going to see you Scot. We were excited but we need a plan. If we could somehow plan things out, I believe we can come visit you guys. We would need money too for the ticket.

I really want Mexianic86 (the guy with the big smile lol) to come along with us. The guy is fluent in spanish, and is being prepared by YHWH to reach out to the spanish communities. Imagine the possibilities! Hispanics are literally everywhere and are thirsting for so much truth :D
